Decadente

Reminiscent of a hipster hangout in New York City, Decadente mixes up high-end drinks in a swank environment. Go early while waiting on your table for the restaurant or simply stop in the bar for a drink while you’re admiring the views from the Miradour across the street.

Park

Cleverly named to match its location – at the top of a parking garage, Park must be one of the most popular “unknown” bars around. Complete with DJ’s spinning chill out tunes and greenery to a create shady picturesque environment, it’s an excellent place to kill a pitcher of White Sangria while waiting for the sun to go down. If you don’t mind crowds, standing and possibly a long wait at the bar, try your luck at night. If you prefer more of a relaxed scene, go early to avoid the swarm of beautiful people.

Sol Y Pesca

As seen on Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservation ‘s while interviewing alternative Portuguese band Dead Combo, Sol y Pesca is the definition of a hole in the wall local dive bar. If you have late night munchies, there are also plenty of canned fish products to snack on, which have experienced a resurge in popularity in the craft food scene partially due to the modern yet retro packaging.

The Old Pharmacy Wine Inn

Located in the lively Barrio Alto, come here to do a wine tasting, even if you aren’t familiar with Portuguese wines, the knowledgeable waiters will steer you in a preferred direction. Tell them your likes & dislikes, but it’s hard to go wrong with a quality red from the Douro Valley.

Chapito

A restaurant in the Alfama area with great views on an outdoor covered patio and a quaint shop selling artisan jewelry and crafts. It’s no wonder Conde Nast Traveler has named this as one of the seven top places to have a drink in Europe. It’s also the home of the local circus school.
