200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in India
Drishti International held a 3 week intensive 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training on the beaches of Goa, India February 3-23, 2013. The relaxing atmosphere of Agonda was the perfect setting to deepen our practice and absorb the brilliant colors and sounds of India. Guest teacher and spiritual guru Vijay led profound workshops on Meditation and Pranayama. The food bursted with flavor and every day closed out with a fiery sunset. It was an intense 3 weeks, but all the hard work was balanced out by plenty of laughs and beach time.
SEVA – Selfless Service
During the last week the students were excited (and maybe a little nervous) to begin teaching the 1 hour afternoon Hatha Yoga classes to the public. We had made announcements the week prior that the class would be donation based and all profits generated would be donated to the local school for school supplies. Sarah had spoken to the Headmaster of the school during our first week there. He was appreciative of the offer. We had a great turnout for the classes and when Carri returned to make the donation, the school expressed much gratitude. Not only did the students feel great that they had already started teaching public classes, but that their efforts were going to a good cause. Their hard work was literally paying off! We also spent 2 hours cleaning up the beach. While Agonda is actually a very clean beach, we managed to fill about 6 bags full of trash, doing something good for ourselves while doing something good for the environment and community… more hard work paying off!
