What is Floating?

What is Floating?

Floating is a sensory deprivation tool for deep relaxation and healing. It is achieved in a special Pod designed for private use filled with warm water mixed with magnesium to allow you to float. The idea is to shut off your senses and simply float to enhance a state of deep relaxation. It is best to do in darkness and with ear plugs or with calming music. It is recommended to float from 60 minutes to 120 minutes for the best results. Read some of the benefits below!

Muscle Relaxation to help reduce pain and tension. Many of us carry bodily pain or tension from everyday stress or from past injuries. When you float you are no longer fighting with gravity and your muscles are encouraged to let go and release deep patterns of tension.

In todays modern world we are bombarded with stimulus and demands that fire up the Sympathetic Nervous System which is responsible for the “Fight or Flight” response and releases the stress hormone Cortizol linked to cancer and other various diseases. Floating can help turn on the Parasympathetic Nervous System which is responsible for “rest and digest” or “repair and renew” and in turn can release calming hormones like oxytocin and endorphins to stimulate a sense of calm and healing.

A state of Meditation can be achieved as there are less distractions from the outside world when immersed in the tank. There are many benefits of Meditation that have now been scientifically proven such as increasing memory, improved learning, lowering the heart rate and increasing compassion. Floating provides the ideal environment to practice one pointedness concentration.

The Epsom Salts in the tank that allow you to float are made of Magnesium and Sulphate which are essential to our health. Most of us have a deficiency in Magnesium. The benefits to getting more Magnesium are increased blood circulation, regulation of electrolytes and reducing stress.

Floating has tremendous benefits during Pregnancy as well. Many women are unable to lie on their backs comfortably in their third trimester because of the pressure on the Vena Cava.
