Surrounded by pristine beaches and several tourist towns, there is no shortage of ways to spend your time when you are not practicing Yoga. You will have two days off during the training and of course you can always schedule time before or after to take advantage of the sights, sounds and smells of India! We have put together a list of our favorite activities in Goa, India.
Ayurveda Massage and Treatments
South India is the home to some of the best Ayurvedic practitioners in the world. Ayurvedic massage is a great treat after a long day of yoga or the perfect way to unwind on your day off! Dolphin Watching
Included in your package is 1 free dolphin trip. Enjoy an outing on a fishing boat in the Arabian Sea and keep your eyes peeled for dolphins. It is a great chance to take in the natural beauty of the Goan beaches and shoreline. There are also lots of beautiful birds to observe as well!
Visit Temples
If you are feeling more adventurous on your day off, hire a tour to check out some of the local temples. The beautiful temples are worth the visit. Immerse yourself in Indian culture and maybe you will be lucky enough to experience a Puja, a Hindu prayer ritual.
Shop at renowned Anjuna Market
Every Wednesday and Saturday Night, the northern Goan town of Anjuna hosts a huge flea market. It is worth a trip just to see all of the activity. They sell everything from spices to clothes to souvenirs from locals and Westerners. Make sure to pack light so you can bring some of your goodies from the market back home with you!
Indian cooking classes
With all those spices that you bought at Anjuna Market you will need to learn how to use them back home. Get guidance on how to make delicious curries and samosas and enroll yourself in a cooking class. Learn how to make dishes like paratha, dhal and vindaloo to name a few!
Scooter excursions to desolate beaches
With so many beaches and villages to explore in Goa, rent a scooter or a driver and head out on the scenic roads. Pass through rice paddies, roaming hills, cliffs and local villages. Pack a picnic or stop at a local restaurant for a Vegg Thali for only $1 USD!
Visit Organic Spice Plantations
Close to the airport is beautiful spice plantation. Take a guided tour of the mango trees, nutmeg, cardamon, cinnamon and much much, more. Your tour guide might even climb the tree and pick a coconut for you!
