Ayurvedic Recipe for Pitta Constitution

Pitta Recipe

In Ayurveda, diet is essential in balancing your Dosha or constitution. Pitta(fire) dominant people can have physically hot fire reactions like hot flashes, rashes, cancor sores, high blood pressure, IBS, gastric reflux and heart attacks if there is excess fire. It is necessary, especially in hot weather, to decrease some of the fire with sweet, bitter, astringent and cold foods. Below is a great meal idea and cooling beverages to help with Pitta especially during summertime.

Beverage Ideas:

Watermelon Juice, Coconut Water, Water with Cucumber, mint tea

Meal Idea:

Watermelon Salad:

  • 1/2 a medium Watermelon cut in chunks
  • 1 large cucumber in chunks
  • 1/4 cup of mint chopped
  • 1/2 cup of paneer or feta (or omit cheese for strict Ayurvedic Diet)
  • 1 tbs of Olive Oil
  • Lime or Lemon juice to taste
  • Put all ingredients in a bowl and toss with Olive Oil and Lemon/Lime to taste. Sprinkle mint on top. Optional add some lentils for some protein.
