Best Yoga Books of 2021
I don’t know about you, but I have been reading a ton during this pandemic. That might be one of the positive things coming out of these changing times. With less social commitments and not commuting to the Yoga studio, I have had more time and energy to cozy up to a book at night.
It could be the pandemic or it could be the fact I have 2 young kids and can’t go anywhere at night anyway! Regardless, I have gotten into a really great routine of reading for at least one hour after the kids are down – before I do any chores, Netflix watching or other work. It is the perfect way to end the day. I have been considering this part of my Sadhana (daily spiritual practice).
I wanted to share some of these amazing finds. Some of these books were written or published before 2021 and a few were recently released.
Check out this list just in time for the holiday season. They make the perfect gift for another wellness junkie in your life or for someone to start down the Yoga path.
The Secret Power of Yoga: A Women’s Guide To The Heart and Soul of The Yoga Sutras By: Devi, Nischala Joy
This is a powerful interpretation from a female perspective. The Yoga Sutras have been mostly translated by men. This heartfelt understanding of this ancient text offers a fresh look on the wisdom of Patanjali. Personally, I like a balance of both and also appreciate Swami Satchidananda’s translation as well. With the combination of the two you will get a rounded experience and explanation of the Yoga Sutras.
