Get To Know Alana Kessler
We are excited to announce that Alana Kessler will join us on our Yoga Teacher Training in India this November. Alana will teach Ashatanga Yoga for morning asana and workshops on Yin Yoga. We chatted with this lovely lady to see if she is excited about her return to India and so you could get to know her better!
Where are you from?
I am a Native New Yorker.
What inspired you to open a studio?
My aspiration has always been to connect fully to myself and share that practice with and in the company of spiritual friends. I feel a yoga studio represents that intention with sincerity.
How long a have you been practicing Ashtanga?
It is currently 8 years since I began my mysore Ashtanga practice.
Have you been to Mysore before and what was your experience like?
I studied at the KPJAYI institute in the summer of 2012. It was a beautiful experience on many levels and it was my first time in India. India really allows for an expansive practice experience which deepens the yoga to include physical, energetic and interpersonal insights and transformations
What are your looking forward to the most about your return to India?
I am looking forward to returning with a fresh perspective and a new opportunity to share and receive with India’s vast richness. I will be in a different place than last time so the opportunity to be a beginner will be there, which I love.
What is your connection with Drishti?
Sarah Walsh was one of the original teachers at my studio, Sangha Yoga Shala. We built a beautiful community together through trust, accountability, kindness, communication, commitment and consistency. When Sarah and Carri founded Drishti, the intention of a collaboration based on the foundation we built at Sangha was born.
Thanks for the information.
